Caritas
Erste Group has been a partner of Caritas of long standing, and among other things supports the annual Eastern Europe Campaign on behalf of children in Europe's poorest countries, the National Help Campaign, and in 2010 the relief action for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
Apart from that, Erste Group regularly supports concrete projects of Caritas Vienna and Caritas Austria with individual actions:
youngCaritas.at lets young people experience the work of Caritas and enables concrete experiences with social work.
youngCaritas.at sees itself as a hub between Caritas and young people who want to investigate themes like homelessness, elderly people, migrants in Vienna and the concrete daily work of Caritas institutions. youngCaritas.at wants to motivate for responsible social acting and call attention to everyday situations of need in order to raise sensitivity for people at the fringe of society. youngCaritas.at continuously offers selected actions created especially for people between 15 and 24 and are adapted to their life situation: a limited time frame, interesting, and aiming at concrete help.

A savings book donates a Euro (until December 2010)
Around one million Austrian live in poverty or are threatened by poverty. Every year, more than 50,000 people turn to Caritas' social counseling service seeking help because they lack basic necessities: money to pay the rent or heating, clothes and shoes for their children, and sometimes food for the whole family. Caritas helps needy people directly – with things which are a matter of course for all of us.
1 Euro for every new savings product
With a bank book or savings account with ProfitCard you can help people in need. In the framework of Erste Bank's AddedVALUE sponsoring program we donate 1 Euro to Caritas' Inlandshilfe 2010 for every savings product you open between December 1 and 31, 2010.
You too can help! Saving now means AddedVALUE.
Erste Group is a long-time supporting partner of Caritas.
Story
The systematic exclusion of migrants and refugees, the deliberate creation of legal problems for them and a determined effort to prevent people as far as possible from taking part in politics and the economy amount to an obstacle to integration, while the fact that immigration has been a major factor in the social development of Austria – and Europe – is forgotten.
