Wiener Kindertheater
(Children’s Theatre Vienna)
Children play theatre. With the support of Erste Group the Children's Theatre Vienna allows children and young people to gain their first acting experience and to discover the stage, as well as themselves.
The Children's Theatre Vienna is the only theater in Vienna where only children are on stage. Since 1994 founder and director Sylvia Rotter has succeeded with her unique approach to get children interested in literature and to bring sophisticated and challenging theatre to the stage.
Getting ready for the stage and develop a successful performance, however, requires good preparation and hard work: the variegated training programme for the young actresses and actors work includes text work, movement training, improvisation, character and social analyses of the scenes, breath, voice and speech technique, rhythm exercises , music, theater rehearsals and performances.
The efforts of the many children participating in the workshops of Children's Theatre Vienna are rewarded with rehearsing a full-length play which is annually performed in public in autumn. Erste Group sponsoring is heavily involved in enabling a technically and organizationally professional performance.
The eastward expansion of Vienna Children's Theatre began in 2006: The first branch in Oradea, Romania, was followed in 2009 by another one in Bucharest. The Teatrul Vienez de copii, as they say in Romanian, is primarily supported by private sponsors: Through the commitment of its subsidiary Banca Comerciala Romana SA, Erste Group sets a clear course towards education and creativity.
Erste Group supports the Wiener Kindertheater as a partner.
