Jean Améry Award for Essay Writing

Jean amery The Jean Améry Award for Essay Writing recognizes outstanding achievements in the field of educational essays analysing contemporary issues.

Created in 1982 by Maria Améry in cooperation with the Klett-Cotta publishing house, the prize was awarded four times up to the year 1991. Discontinued for a period of nine years, the award was revived by Robert Menasse in 2000.

Erste Group awards the Jean Améry Literary Award every two years together with the publishing house Klett-Cotta.
