Music Klangforum Vienna – Composition Commission – Vienna Modern

Erste Group Composition Commission - since 1989 Erste Group is commissioning original compositions through an award granted to young Austrian composers.

In establishing a new work it is decisive that as many further performances as possible should be given within a short period after the premiere. The public should be offered the opportunity to hear the new work at least a second time within the course of a year. The Erste Group Composition Commission is structured to achieve this. The new work is assured of a minimum of three performances within a period of 12 months. These performances are given within the framework of Wien Modern. In addition, the Erste Group Composition Commission ensures further public attention for the prize-winning composers by releasing their new work on a portrait CD.
