Musikverein

at_musikverein Since the foundation of the Society of Music Lovers in Vienna little less than 200 years ago, the Musikverein and Erste Group have been closely cooperating.

The Wiener Musikverein has a twofold meaning: it is not only the building housing the fabulous concert hall on Karlsplatz in Vienna, but also the name of the “Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde” in Vienna, who owns the building and is responsible for its music programs.
The Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Wien was founded in 1812, the Erste Österreichische Spar-Casse (Austrian Savings Bank) in 1819 – since then both institutions have stood in close cooperation and both have developed into flourishing enterprises with their innovative, ambitioned and socially responsible ideas.
When the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde built its new home in the 1860’s, the Erste Österreichische Spar-Casse was one of its most important sponsors.
It seemed to be a logical consequence to support most generously the enlargement in the basement of the building; the Erste Bank Foyer which was opened in September 2003 is a very prominent sign of this cooperation.

Erste Group is a partner of Musikverein.
