New this year are the Newman Popiashvili Gallery from Georgia and Tengri Umai Gallery from Kazakhstan. Also for the first time in Vienna, Jiri Svestka Gallery from Prague, Art Radionica Lazareti and Contemporary Croatian Photography from Croatia are present with artists.
As main sponsor, Erste Bank enables galleries from Central and Eastern European countries to participate in the VIENNAFAIR; they also represent the fair’s focal point. Over the last years, the fair has established itself as an influential springboard for galleries and artists from Central and South-Eastern Europe into the international art world.
The author and curator Georg Schöllhammer talks about the strategy and responsibility of "Kontakt. The art collection of Erste Group" and about the history of the manifold art scenes in the former East and West, their protagonists and their intentions.
In the framework of the focus on "Film+Art" at the Viennafair 2010 video works from the collection will be presented, which Schöllhammer has curated in his function as a member of the Art Board.
