“Jean Améry Award” of 2009 for Imre Kertész

The Jean Améry Prize for essay writing is an award for outstanding achievements in the field of time-critical, enlightening essays. 2009, the Hungarian writer Imre Kertész was awarded the Jean Améry Award for Essay Writing. The jury's statement: "The Nobel Prize winner for 2002 is close in all his work, especially in his essays to the very spirit of Jean Amery.
