The “Kontakt Fashion Award by Erste Bank 2010” will be awarded to the Hungarian label use.unused.

It is now for the fifth time that Erste Bank awards the “Kontakt Fashion Award by Erste Bank” to outstanding designers from Central and Eastern Europe in the framework of its partnership with the “festival for fashion & photography”.

“As a long-time partner of the ‘festival for fashion & photography’ we want to use this special award to support the extraordinary creativity and impressive potential of fashion designers from Central and Eastern Europe”, says Ruth Goubran, Head of Community Affairs and Sponsoring. “This initiative aims to help the designers to receive more public attention, and gives them opportunity to get into contact with the Austrian and international scenes.”

Prize winner: Label USE unused (HU)
The Hungarian fashion label USE unused resulted from the co-operation of three fashion students at the Moholy-Nagy University for Art and Design in Budapest, and has operated under its current name since 2006. The three – who apart from a ladies’ fashion line meanwhile also design accessories and eyewear – aim to make their enterprise the first Hungarian fashion brand with world-wide success. That this is no pipe dream is proven by numerous awards, e.g., the commendation as one of the ten best fashion labels at the International Fashion Fair 2007 in Tokyo. Fashion by USE unused is marked by a clear reference to its Hungarian origin. Moreover their collections, which are designed to address modern cosmopolitan women, inspire with their timeless elegance. Besides its homecountry Hungary, the brand is currently present in the US and Japan.
