Fades in a new look

Appropriately, for the 6th festival of fashion from Unit-F (www.unit-f.at) we have clothed ourselves in a new, more contemporary design.

Dear readers and friends of "Kontakt",
Two years have passed since we first went online with the Kontakt website. The time has flown, two years of expanding, changing, searching, of commitment, and, of course, fun in producing Kontakt.  A time, too, in which we could reflect, alter things a little – and naturally also improve a number of things.
Appropriately, for the 6th festival of fashion from Unit-F (www.unit-f.at) we have clothed ourselves in a new, more contemporary design. Not just better looking, but above all more functional and easier to follow so that, dear readers, we can offer you better service as well as more information and content. You will find more events in Central and Eastern Europe in our calendar, the current Kontakt projects have been newly prepared and brought up to date and from now on our KONTAKT Radio will accompany the articles with sound. In our magazine Report you can find, naturally, all earlier articles and projects on art, the human sciences and social affairs in Central and Eastern Europe, organized according to theme. Our email newsletter provides you with information about current events and new contents.

At this point it seems only right to express our gratitude to the entire Kontakt team whose commitment and energy have made the last few years of Kontakt possible: Boris Marte, Christine Böhler, Heide Wihrheim and Susanne Schaller from Erste Bank-Group, Maurizio Poletto, Markus Huber, Stefan Rinner and Patrick Bienenstein from Collettiva, and all our authors, copy-editors and translators – in particular Elisabeth Schöberl, who has helped us in our struggle to find the right words and James R. O´Donovan, who sought to translate them into English for the international public.

But enough of this backward glance – why not read more about the latest "foibles of fashion" in our current online Report? There you can find portraits of Eastern European designers and Russian and Austrian artists who examine fashion in a broader social and economic context and study clothing as a medium of history and identity.

Best regards
