Under the motto “Sicherheit” (“Security”), the 31st edition of WIEN MODERN in November 2018 invites audiences to exciting encounters with “unplayable” masterpieces and with various crossover artists performing a balancing act between freedom and control. From the opening concert, performed by the Vienna Philharmonic without a conductor, and bold solo recitals to crossover performances in the fields of improvisation, jazz and graphic notation, from pioneers of chance music to numerous world premieres, this month in Vienna will be anything but boring – that’s for sure!
Since 1989, Erste Bank has annually presented a composition award for contemporary music as part of its ExtraVALUE Sponsoring Programme.
The recipient of this year’s prize is Agata Zubel.
Performed by Klangforum Wien under the musical direction of Johannes Kalitzke, Agata Zubel’s new work, Cleopatra’s Songs, will be given its world premiere during WIEN MODERN at the Erste Bank Composition Award concert on 21 November.
Upon presentation of their bank cards, customers of Erste Bank receive a 10% discount on general passes and on up to two tickets per WIEN MODERN performance taking place at Vienna’s Konzerthaus.
